Spring Midwest Willys Reunion 2011

Photos by Bob Christy

BrochureThe 2011 Spring Midwest Willys Reunion was held on 20-22 May, and photographer Bob Christy posted pictures in real time so those of us who couldn't make it, could get a glimpse of some of the vehicles. Bob commented, "The weekend was great. Lots of vendors and quite bit of traffic throughout the day Friday and Saturday. There were a lot of cool Willys products there."

The Reunion took place again this year at the King's Island Resort in Mason, Ohio. The theme was "The Working Jeep" and as usual some of the Jeeps in attendance were outfitted for hard work, while others were obviously now used mainly for pleasure.

This CJ-3A with a mower is one of the classic working Jeeps from the early 1950s.

In 1959, Willys pulled out all the stops to enter the pleasure vehicle market, with the Surrey Gala.

This loaded CJ-5 belongs to Pete Dunkel, who was handling registrations at this year's Spring Reunion.

And of course Bob Christy brought his CJ-3B as well as his camera.

This customized GI Joe Jeep makes a really nice display with its matching full-size CJ-2A and trailer.

And what a great tow rig to pull the 2A.

There were Jeeps for sale, including this CJ-5. What make of hardtop is that?

Some vehicles needed more work than others.

This red 3B is designed for fun -- who owns this one?

Another working Jeep arrives: John and Phyllis Ittel's Green Prairie Turf 3B.

Here's a working Jeep that everybody will hear coming. Who's the siren collector?

Some red Jeeps put fires out. This 2A looks like it's equipped to start fires.

Among the rarer Jeeps in attendance was this early CJ-6.

And it's great to see that a Fleetvan was on hand.

Congratulations to the organizers for another successful Reunion. Thanks to Bob for the photos. -- Derek Redmond
