The plans for this paper Jeep (about 2-1/2" or 7 cm long) based on a Mitsubishi J3 have been on the Paper Jeep Toys page for a while now, but I had never sat down to see how difficult it might be to actually cut out the parts and glue it together.
Now I know why. It must have taken me an hour just to cut out the pieces from the downloadable sheet (470K GIF). By the way, the sheet should be printed on cardstock (or "cover stock") paper, not regular writing paper. I think trying to glue thin paper pieces together would be almost impossible; even with cardstock it was difficult for me.
You can probably see from these pictures that I had trouble assembling it. Of course if I had used a glue stick that wasn't all dried up it might have helped. (And if I hadn't been in a hurry after it had already taken me an hour with the scissors.)
This picture of a slightly more successful job by somebody else was published with the plans by 4x4 Magazine in Japan for Christmas 2007. This one includes the roll bar that I didn't even attempt to attach. Neither of us included the puppy with reindeer antlers.
Merry Christmas! If you're good with the scissors and glue and have some time over the holidays, there are more Paper Jeep Toys projects on CJ3B.info. -- Derek Redmond
