The most common English translation of the title Les Risques du Metier is Risky Business, but it should not be confused with several other films with that title. That translation also seems less than totally appropriate for a film about a schoolteacher falsely accused of seducing students. Perhaps more appropriate although less catchy is the translation Occupational Hazards.
A reviewer on the Internet Movie Database calls the film a "neglected classic of French cinema." It was directed by André Cayatte who was a lawyer before starting his career in film, and was the first acting role for the famous Belgian singer and composer Jacques Brel.
When Federico Cavedo told me about Occupational Hazards, it also became the first movie I've seen that puts a French-built Hotchkiss-Willys CJ-3B on the screen.
Jacques Brel plays the teacher facing the "occupational hazards," and Delphine Desyeux, who became a well-known actress and dancer, plays the first student to accuse him.
The Jeep belongs to the construction company owned by Robert Arnaud, the father of one of the girls. It has a single seat, and for some reason the door sill on the right side has been cut down to the floor.
It's a Hotchkiss JH-101, a version of the CJ-3B built in France from 1955-1960. Like the 3Bs built in Spain, the Hotchkiss Jeeps had a full-floating rear axle, recognizable here by the hub.
The Jeep appears briefly several times in the film, and then has a central role in a scene where one of Arnaud's employees jumps in to chase after Arnaud's daughter who's on her bicycle.
This the only shot where we see the front of the Jeep with the Hotchkiss-Willys badge (190K JPEG) on the radiator guard, confirming that it's a JH-101.
He tries to convince her to do the right thing, but she runs away from him. In the end, however, the teacher is cleared of all the charges.
